Purchase Ledger account question.

I hope someone can please help me with this because it's driving me mad!
I have been asked to compare the individual purchase leger account balances with the balance for the purchase ledger control account, the two balances don't match but I've been told to correct them with journal entries. The info that I have is purchases day book and cash book payments as well as the purchase ledger control account and the individual purchase ledger account balances(I know that these individual balances are correct because they have already been balanced for us). I've looked at this every way I can think of but can't see how this can be done. I know I'm leaving this a bit late because i'm back in college next week but any pointers you can offer would be gratefully received.

sounds like something hasnt been posted to the control account check that everything on the day books also goes through control account and in theory something should have been missed or double posted or even put on the wrong side.0
