What are the basic requirements of the Project?
Does it have to be some kind of improvement in the accounting system itself (e.g. going from manual to digital; making a more efficient spreadsheet than the one already in use; encouraging staff to use reports and features that they didn't know were there; making a manual filing system more efficient; researching a SAGE plugin that could help the business expand; researching an entirely new accounting system; etc)?
Or can it be a little less accounting-based? Something that will make the company more profitable but won't involve the filing and accounting methods.
My main problem at the moment is that our company is about to switch to an entirely new accounting package (sadly not one that I had anything to do with choosing!), so I've not had enough exposure to it to build up suggestions on what could be changed.
I also have a very limited exposure to the accounting processes anyway. For example, my boss does the Bank Rec manually without trying the built in bank rec facility. However, since I don't work with the bank rec, I have no idea how much more or less tedious the automated method would be. It may not even work with the WhatIf payments system. And even if it did, the system's being replaced next month anyway!
Argh!

Hi,
Maybe you should consider using the implementation of the new accounting system. The key to the project is to do a SWOT (Stengths / Weaknesses / Opportunites / Threats Table)
The more WOT's you have the better as these will make up the basis of you project and you can moan on for ever about the bad side of things
If you concentrated on the new system then you would be able to discuss any problems that have come up since the implementation etc.
