intermediate portfolio

Does anyone know if you have to complete the portfolio if you have already done (most) of the work on a different course? I did an HNC a year ago, which covered everything i'm doing now at intermediate - so this course is mostly revision for me. I was told i had to do it anyway, becuase you can't really enter straight into technician at FTC, and it would show up any weak areas or things that are maybe slightly different in the method they are taught, such as proforma layouts. But that means that i've done everything pretty much i need for the portfolio already. Could i just include the HNC certificate, and maybe a letter from my college tutor (obv. would include some current workplace evidence if i can get it)?

    Hi

Generally speaking, for NVQs you can use what is called Assessment of Prior Learning (APL), which basically means that if you have evidence of already having covered something it can be used in an NVQ portfolio.

You'll need to discuss this with your centre and you'll probably need more than just a certificate and letter. A certificate, notification of performance/transcript and syllabus details will be of use but you will probably need to provide items of course work too. This will only be for the portfolio and you will still need to do the exams.

I thought that might be the case - although, i knew i would still have to do the exams. Would feel like cheating if i didn't, and i'm not not someone who has a particular hatred of them anyway.
I've still got *all* my coursework for the HNC (except the odd assignment which the tutors marked and retained in my file), so finding extra examples shouldn't be too hard (she says, before remembering that there are 5 box files and 2 wallets of the stuff to dig through...)
    Thanks!
