I am new to this forum lark so please forgive me for any errors.
I have completed foundation and intermediate levels since leaving work following the birth of my son. I previously worked in an accounts office but only as a secretary.
I started to study AAT as when i finally return to the world of work would like to work in accounts.
Am enjoying the course but do find it hard not working, espicially this year with the project which I am having to use the case study and finding it hard to 'bring to life'.
Anybody else in a similar position?

I am also studying AAT with the aim of returning to work after a long time at home with children. Technician level seems a huge jump from intermediate level! One of our lecturers has changed this year as well and she is really different to the one before. All we can do is plod on and practise it will be worth it in the end. :)

It seems to me that it is harder when not working in accounts. irrelevant of what sort of accounting. I had not done any work this week before college and found it really hard to get back into it, espicially going to college in the evenings 2 days running. am getting worried about the PCR exam in december as just printed off past papers and scared myself!!!
Thats without even thinking about my project. Have you started yours?

    Re:Project !!!

The added scary bit for me is that I haven't worked in accounts before! This was something I wanted to do 20 years ago when I failed my A levels so it was suggested to me to go into accounts via AAT. I am enjoying the course but the increase in complexity of the studies is worrying me. I have looked at the project, the lecturer had us in on a Saturday morning to go through it! I've just set up a template of relevant pages on the computer at the mo and am going through the situation to find out what is going on and making notes, along with all the other modules!! Hard work, where in the country are you?

Are you doing to AAT simulation and if so which simulation have you been given?

Nothing specifically other than the chief assessors report which seems to indicate that a number of students got full marks in various areas.

We have been given a past paper from Dec 2000 to do over the half term but have the answers so at least I will be able to see where I go wrong as I am sure I will!

I am in Newport South Wales. We too have a break for half term, but I think it might be different to yours, we break this Friday. We are going to be given a pack of stuff from personal tax other than that I don't know. I hope to start to make in roads with the project which we have been given a deadline of Apr 07, tax exam in Dec plus auditing & cash & credit management skills test. Masses I know and I have also tried to do payroll as well although this isn't the AAT one! I hope not to crack up with all this!
