I don't mean to be facetious, but how long is a piece of string?
It all depends on what needs to be done - have their books been written up? Do they want a CT600 completed? Where in the country are you (London more expensive than say north of Scotland)?
Personally, I wouldn't quote anything less than about £500.

Re:Preparing limited company accounts
Hi, thankyou your response much appreciated.
im in Leeds, West yorkshire, the client that needs acounts has a turnover of upto £30k, and will require CT600, books are on SAGE.
But books have not been managed properly by his previous bookkeeper/accountant and requires further work.
I was also thinking nothing less than £500 and upto maybe £800? for a company of this size.

Re:Preparing limited company accounts
why are we so negative about justifying our charges. i quoted someone £3.50 the other day per payslip per payroll run and they emailed me back saying this was ludicrously expensive.this includes all payroll reporting per employee and the year end returns at no extra cost. it is like a smack in the face after all my training. how much do others charge?0 -

Jen
I don't do payslips for less than £3.50 each - some of the smaller monthly ones I charge £5.00 each, and I charge extra for year end cr*p about £50 or so, more if lots of employees - I do all year end stuff online so that they can get their bribe - sorry incentive
MA - maybe the way to go is £x for the accounts, CT600 etc and then an hourly rate for sorting out the mess - that way they can see that they could have saved money by doing things properly in the 1st place.
