Pension - Do I need details for Tax Return?

Bit of a mind block this morning. My client is self-employed but receives a private pension which is untaxed "because of his status". Not sure what he means by this. Do I need more details for his Tax Return. Surely this should be taxed? Or am I just not with it today?

    Yes you do need more details.

    There are a few pensions that are exempt from tax and these are usually war-related disablement pensions.

    It could be that your client means that he is not taxed at source on the pension. If so then it will still need to be shown on his Tax Return.
