Re:Study Buddy19051984 wrote:I agree Gem, almost all of the female friends I have I have a fancy spot for - quite scary really, my missus knows I fancy her mate...
I do have the pleasure of having friendships with girls I don't fancy but I would rather be around the people who I did fancy... it must be one of those testosterone things that go unexplained.
There's only probably one thing that would make me want to be around a female friend who I didn't fancy and a female friend who I did fancy if the one I didn't fancy was funny and great to be around... it's OK looking good girls, but you gotta have the chatter to go with it.
Sounds really shallow I know, but I do consider other things in the opposite sex too.
This is what confuses me, I'm not exactly a 'looker' and thats fine by me, so what the hell is wrong with these guys?!0 -
Re:Study Buddy
You okay?
How ya doin pardner?
(Just pretend that I'm the wacky bimbo again...)
Errr... I've seen some of your photos Gem. I don't necessarily agree with your view...
They might like your sense of humour...0 -

Gem, you may not think you are a looker, but guys will! and i always find that if 1 guy is interested then some more seem to be too!

Hmm
I just think they're weird! Or it must be my great sense of humour 8) :P0 -

Re:Study Buddy
Well then you're weird too :?0 -
Re:Study Buddy
Gem - don't beat yourself up.
You are attractive and guys are going to notice.
Younger ones are going to be confused about their feelings, and fumbling to express themselves.
Just stick to own needs... Anyone that ignores that has no respect for you.0 -

You don't fancy a change? I keep wearing the same gear...
You should see her Mother Superior outfit, with whip and thigh length black boots0 -

You don't fancy revving up his tractor then?
Mandy will probably be joining us again. She's still recovering from the last time.
Thanks for sending those things back to me - luckily the postman never noticed the long bit sticking out!

And what, pray, have I done wrong to be excluded from the merriment? :?0 -

Re:Study Buddy
I have been informed that you recently broke up with someone, Gem.
So you don't really want to be getting involved just yet - 'rebound'. Enjoy your freedom. Develop new hobbies or friendships.
Be careful about being consistent. If don't want relationship, then say so.
If want friendship only, then clearly identify your comfort zones, etc.

Re:Study Buddy
Hey
You're right I've recently come out of a long-term relationship, and I'm having a tough time getting over it. It feels weird not being with someone though :? My mum keeps pestering me and trying to set me up with people, whereas I feel happy to, as you said, be on my own and get some new friends and start a hobby (I'm doing belly dancing
).
I feel like everythings getting a bit on top of me atm and I'm so confused.
I was supposed to be going to keele university this year to start studying forensic science but now I'm not so sure. And I've got lots of other stuff playing on my mind as well, theres been some trouble at home recently so thats not helping.
I've really got to make some decisions, but before I do I need to work out what they are

Take it steady. Don't rush into anything.0 -
Re:Study Buddy
I must be losing my touch if you've recovered that fast!
It normally takes at least a week0 -

I know what you mean about it being weird, but that will pass eventually! (I hope!
) My mum is doing the same, trying to get me to go out with new people (namely my brothers 25yr old fit lifegaurd mate!) but im happy just going out with friends again. Belly dancing sounds like a great hobby to have! 0 -
Re:Study Buddy
I think Uni will be a fantastic change for you!
If you are feeling confused, then you deffo don't want to get involved. Big Heaps doodoo...
Enjoy the belly-dancing. Good for you!
Is this the Keele Uni near StokeOnTrent? (somewhere in Cheshire?)
If it is, then spent a summerschool there. Very nice! Surrounded by scenic countrysde, and loads of pubs. Oops, I meant to say 'libraries'...

Re:Study Buddy
Lol the belly dancing is really good fun. It's the 3rd session tonight. It's nice to get out of the house! I thought I'd be able to make some new friends there but theres nobody my age.
At least your mum is trying to set you up with someone nice! Mines trying to set me up with her bosses son, who is interested in science same as me, but apparantly is really arrogant and 'not nice to look at'!
I've got some serious thinking to do. I want to go to uni and have a whole new start and I'll be close to the rest of my family and I'll be doing a job that I'll really enjoy. But the chance of me getting a job after uni is so small, theres only about 100 forensic scientists employed each year but 1000 apply. And it doesn't pay particularly well.
Whereas I can still get a really good career out of being an accountant, I'll have lots of money, the only downside of being an accountant is that it's not what I want to do.0 -
Re:Study Buddy
well even if you didnt get a job as a forensic scientist, you could always fall back into accountancy, even just temporarily until you got the job of your dreams!0 -
Re:Study Buddy
Just realised they haven't yet updated the pictures and that the man in my number last year was called Ben Thomas and he did the race in 54 minutes and 59 seconds....0 -
Re:Study Buddy
Yeah! Follow your heart not the money.
There are other jobs that need Forensic skills. And the analytical thinking, etc will be a flexible bonus for other things...0 -
Re:Study Buddy
My mum will be so disappointed in me if I do go to uni. She was all for it until she found out how much the first forensic position pays. She wants me to get my ACA out of the way then go and work for a Big 4 firm, she said that theres hardly anybody who does a job that they like, so I might as well stay where I am and get a really good career out of it.
And that all sounds very appealing but Paul's right, 45 years is a long time to do something that you dont like.0
