Re:Study Buddy
Anyone noticed how all those people who were up in arms over on the Tech forum last week are no longer logging on? No doubt they'll all return come results day in August.
I think we should give their ilk a name; "One week wonders" or something? Come on Hellen - I'm sure something will come up if you think about it hard enough?0 -

Re:Study Buddy
Is it just me or does anyone else miss people not bothering to write properly anymore? Reading some of the threads, it strikes me that some feel it's perfectly okay to use text speak on a professional Forum. It isn't. I also think people should be marked down for poor grammar and spelling in the written sections of an exam, but are they?
I'm not saying people should have perfect spelling and grammar all of the time - no-one does and certainly not even Hellen! - but there are times when it really does matter and text speak comes across to me as being just plain dumb.
Grrrrrrrrrr............

Re:Study Buddy
I agree with the point about written tasks in exams, if a letter is written to you by a professional, you should expect that letter to be in well written English.0 -
Re:Study Buddy
So if i was writing a letter in an exam and used text and internet speech i would'nt get marked down?0 -
Re:Study Buddy
I don't think you get marked down but you don't gain the 3 marks for presentation, spelling and grammar.0 -
Re:Study Buddy
Ah, OK then, fair enough.
Surely that should be changed so you lose marks though?0 -
Re:Study Buddy
I don't think they're allowed to penalise like that. So instead of you losing points for poor grammar etc, you gain points for good grammar etc0 -
Re:Study Buddy
I dont wish to sound obnoxious or anything, but the last thing I would think of doing is writing in 'text speak' in an exam. I dont write in extreme ' text language' in my text messages!!!!!!!!
Its more of an effort than just writing normally on paper surely?0 -
Re:Study Buddy
I'm the same! I always write my texts properly too! Without predictive on :P
But I think it would mean more work because it's not your first 'language', if you like, so you have to think more to write it down?0 -
Re:Study Buddy
Defo, i mean it aint like ur used 2 writin lyke a imbaseal, cuz u dont learn 2 rite lyk it in skuul0 -

Re:Study Buddy
Did you konw that if the frist and last letetr of a wrod are in the rhigt place we can sitll read it normally, even if all of the ltteers in beweetn are muldded up!0 -
Re:Study Buddy
See i'm different to that,
In texts I can use abbreviations (why is that such a long word?) and most of the time i can understand the texts people send me but then i can write properly in exams and in emails that need to be written correctly, i can switch between the two easily
Strange0 -
Re:Study Buddy
I had an email like that before and its about half an A4 page long and its quite readable (if thats a real word) i managed to get through it quite quickly
I suppose its just each to thier own really
Depends how quickly your brain can process the information0 -
Re:Study Buddy
I think I did it wrong cos the original one I read fine but mines not as easy :?0 -
