Manufacturing Accounts

I am studying AAT Intermediate Level and have looked at the FRA Unit 5 Syllabus and noticed that there was no mention of Manufacturing Accounts.

Is this because Manufacturing Accounts is part of Unit 6 ECR or is just that Manufacturing Accounts is not assessed in Unit 5.

    Re:Manufacturing Accounts

Manufacturing accounts don't occur in the syllabi (sylllabuses?) for Intermediate at all - much to the chagrin of our tutor. We got taught them anyway as part of Unit 6 as they help make sense of what a lot of that costing stuff is actually for. I think they crop up somewhere at Technician level though.

    Where abouts in technician Level.

So I can take it that in the Intermediate Level they will not ask us to prepare a Manufacturing Account showing clearly the prime cost, cost of Raw Materials consumed and the production cost. In addition a trading, profit & Loss Account and a balance sheet.

Somewhere in Unit 9 I think.

You'll be expected to know how to prepare a total costs statement but you won't be expected to incorporate costs into final accounts. Apparently in the 'Old Standard' syllabus you did. It is worth knowing about manufacturing accounts though and they're covered in the Osborne book for Unit 6/7 - but they're not examinable.
