Kirst
I replied to your email on the AAT groups to try to help you using excel and email.
it is not as easy on here as we cannot insert tables so the columns can wobble a bit.
Before I answer the question you have asked I recommend that any question of this sort should be answered using a table.
This way you can compare the two inputs to find which will allow the loweradditional production
Start with availability
divide by the input required per unit
this gives the total output possible
then multiply by the faulty % (to find how much will be lost)and take this off
to give the saleable output
I can't do the labour hours and raw material side by side here as I would in a table so I have done this one at a time.
1.2 a)
Labour hrs available 380 hours (total less the 20,900 already being used in task 1.1 d)
divide by 0.1 hrs per unit 3800 Antelope Statues
2% are faulty 76 statues
98% are saleable 3,724
Raw Material (Rock)available 3,000 kgs
divide by 0.75 kg per statue 4,000 Antelope Statues
2% are faulty
98% are saleable 3,920
So as the labour time is only sufficient to produce 3,724 statues but there is enough raw material for 3,920 then the labour time is the principle constraint that will limit production
1.2 b) follows from this conclusion
We needed 180,000 kgs of rock for task 1.1 b)
3,800 extra statues at 0.75 kgs each will require 2,850 kgs more
a total of 182,850 kgs

FAO SANDYHOOD- RE:JUNE 2002 PAR (TASK 1.2 A AND 1.2B) (ANTELOPES AND BEARS)
HI SANDY,
(WHEN YOU GET A SPARE 5 MINUTES)
CAN YOU PLEASE EMAIL ME AN EXAMPLE OF HOW THE TABLE WOULD LOOK, JUST SO I KNOW HOW TO SET IT OUT, IF I GET SOMETHING LIKE THIS IN AN EXAM.
I THINK I AM DOUBTING MYSELF TOO MUCH, AS MY ANSWERS WERE CORRECT, BUT I NEED TO WORK ON MY LAYOUT, AS I'M WRITING THINGS ALL OVER THE PLACE.
THANKS KIRST
