I'm a bit puzzled.
I understand about car benefit, and that basically its:
Original price of car
Less: original contribution paid by employee
Apply the carbon dioxide emissions percentages.
Less: contribution made by employee for use of car.
But... where does the servicing, insurance etc of the car come into it? Are they simply not a benefit in kind?

No not at all. The benefit is simply as you have said - car list price less any contributions made by the employee.
