does anyone else find themselves working backwards?

I usually find myself so confused at what the question is asking of me, and seem to have no recollection of layouts or what calculations i need to do - so end up looking at the answer and working backwards - i know where i am then, and understand it next time round, but its fustrating having a brain that just doesnt retain info for more than 5 mins. and of course, im not going to get to do this with exam questions!

short of doing a load of memory excercises, which doesnt seem to have worked, has anyone got any other tips on how to help my brain remember.

im doing audit skills test on 21st nov and personal tax on 8 dec

many thanks (good luck to everyone by the way!)

    Hi,

I feel the same sometimes so I know how you feel. What I've done is written out answers in an easier way for me to understand with othe jotted notes in the side. I also highlight important aspects. Use index cards, spider diagrams. Just re-reading and re-doing other questions also help.

    hi there sonia
thanks for that - i have done those things too, repitition is certainly helping (im doing the practice exam papers twice!) i just get flustered when a question is written a totally different way and learning too many step by step calculations at once and remembering them - and as for any written work (ie, auditing) is hopeless - i read a paragraph, and it just goes straight threw my head like trying to catch a leaf in a blizzard!!

ill keep trying though - trying to be positive and saying things to myself like "i got through the others, ill get through this too"
