self-assessment advice please

Hi all,

I have my first client! I have heard many good things about my fellow AAT members sharing spreadsheets and templates, would any of you be so kind to help me out? I would really like to get chatting to some of you to make sure I dont mess up this poor womans accounts! Im sure I wont. One specific query I have is:
She began trading in Oct 06- Do I have to produce her accounts upto 31/09/07 creating overlap profits or, if she agrees, can I produce accounts upto 31/03/07 to rid the overlap profits?

    well done on getting your first client :)

    I've not got any template spreadsheets (i make them up as I go along) but in answer to your question, unless there's a specific reason why she would want / need a year end of Sept 07, I would draw up the accounts to 31 March.
