Occupational Pension Scheme - HELP

I am having slight difficulties with the occupational Pension scheme questions in a past paper.

I have identified that the pension contribution worked out on his employment income should be deducted from his employment income for one of the questions.

I also calculted that this value calculated expands the middle band therefore, at 2005/06 rates the middle band would be £30310 plus £1650 calculated to give a new middle band of £31960.

Please can someone get back to me and advise if otherwise.

    Are you doing BTC or PTC? If you are doing PTC then you only extend the basic rate band if the person contributes to a personal pension and not an occupational pension.

    It's PTC, i think i have got this now, have done loads more practice and hopefully this will hold me in good stead.
