Political Donations and Charity Donations

Just a quick question are theses allowable expenses in Business Tax. I allowed the charity Donation, but added back the Political Donation. Im a bit confussed because i looked on HMRC website and it says they are not allowed, im sure we got taught Charity Donations were allowed.

    As I remember it's local charity donations are allowed, especially if you get your name in a program or something where it can be used as advertising.

    Unless it's all changed though!!!

    ok thanks. But wouldn't that be classed as advertising not Charitable Donations

    Surely if it's a political donation (especially to one Gordon Brown), you could even put it onto the intangible assets section on the balance sheet under the heading "Acquisition of Knighthood"?!!!
