Hi this may sound stupid but im just starting intermediate level and i have a question in my book that i am not sure of what it is actually asking me to do . Its proberly so simple ,hope someone can help.
I have a list of business transactions and the question is asking to record them in the account books ???
it is not asking for the double entry or to enter into the day books . So what exactlty am i supposed to doing and how am i to set it out . Really appreciate anyone who can help . Thanks :?

Are you sure its not asking for double entry? Post an example of one of the trnasactions. It may be asking you to post them to the nominal ledger.

example of questions : 4th jan bought goods £250
on credit from AB Supplies

: 5th jan Sold goods £195
Cheque being recieved.

question says you are to record transactions in the account books note : daybooks are not required. It doesnt mention double entry if you have the Osborne book Financial Records and Accounts w/b question num: 2.8

Hi Jennie,

For the credit purchase post as follows (ignoring VAT);
Credit purchase ledger control £250 (don't forget to credit the AB Supplies subsidiary account too)
Debit purchases account £250

For the cash sale;
Debit bank account £195
Credit sales account £195

Chapter 2 in the Osborne FRA book is just a recap of basic double entry principles for those going straight in at intermediate.
