Portfolio from Student Days

Is there any reason for hanging onto the old portfolio we prepared during our studies. Mine contains out of date work examples, XL Charts to show that I knew how to use Spreadsheets, the dreaded project, plus various work statements etc etc. It also contains all the student record sheets, none of which were ever signed by my college, who also never ever looked at my very thick and cumbersome portfolio that I spent hours compiling. Is anyone else hanging onto theirs for other than 'sentimental' reasons.

Thanks

Jane

I have put mine somewhere so safe that I have not the first clue where it is  that is the only reason why I haven't filed it in the bin

I think you're required to keep them for 3 years post qualification?

I did my technician stage in 2002 and I never even bothered collecting mine from the college.

Its definatley worth keeping. SOmenone at my college threw theirs away after passing their finals, and then 2 years later the AAT asked to see his portfolio .... because he didnt have it the AAT took his MAAT status away from him.

Thank you - think I will put it in the loft, out of sight, but from where it is easily retrievable.

Since qualifying I have started a degree in Finance and Accounting for which I received exemptions by holding the AAT qualification. The Technician stage project formed a a large part of one of these exemptions and so I'm glad I still had mine otherwise I would have had to start over again on something similar.

I think therefore it's always best to keep portfolios as they may come in useful later.
