Hi
I would just like some advice on my executive summary of the project.
Is it a brief description of what I have found, what I am doing and the results OR is it a brief description of each area? eg Intro, Managing People etc.
I would be really helpful if you could give me some advice on this!
Thanks
Harri :P

Re:Unit 10 Project - Executive Summary
Hi Harri,
my tutor told me to write the executive summary as though I was writing it for Alan Sugar, he doesn't want to know the ins and outs of everything, he will get somebody else to read all that, he just wants to know what that big pile of paper (your project) is about.
Hope that helps.

Re:Unit 10 Project - Executive Summary
Thanks for the reply!
Does that mean I should introduce the company and the current system or should I just go straight into it as if I am writing to the MD?

Re:Unit 10 Project - Executive Summary
Write summat along the lines as though you are writing to the MD, state what part of the company you are writing about, ie, sales ledger etc.
State the aim of the report.
Give a brief summary of your recommendations.
Dont worry if you feel you are repeating yourself, remember, Alan isn't gonna be reading your whole report
I assume that you are nearly finished with your project now, well done if so!

Re:Unit 10 Project - Executive Summary
thanks for your help!!!
I will give it a good go! So far I have done 2300 words! I need to expand on my Introduction, Analysis of Current System and Conclusion. Then I need to do my Executive Summary.
I have to hand my first draft in to College on Thursday to get feedback but I can't help thinking my idea isn't big enough to cover it but we will see.
Thanks again

Re:Unit 10 Project - Executive Summary
Hi Harri,
have you done a bit about fraud and fraud prevention, you should manage to waffle a good 600/700 words there.
Also I had to do a contingency plan, could the company function without you, doubtful I know, but we have to pretend that somebody else could do our job as effectivly as us.....as if

Re:Unit 10 Project - Executive Summary
Do you think I could get away with 600-700 words on fraud? I have done 107 on fraud and 158 on contingency.
I have waffled a bit in the introduction with 320 words.
How many words have you done for those 3? Also I am really struggling with Implementation and Review and Conclusion all I have basically managed to do is say it was implemented and it went well then with the conclusion "it has been a success" but obviously they are a bit longer than that but I need to expand it! Any ideas?
Harri
P.S as if anyone could do my job as effectively as me!!

Re:Unit 10 Project - Executive Summary
I would try and expand a bit on the fraud/fraud prevention, I do think you should be able to waffle that subject out quite easily!
I wrote 400 words on the intro, 300 on the contingency plan and 500 on fraud, but dont assume that yours is not as good, I am probably a better waffler thats all!!!
Re-read what you have written and just see if you can expand any more before adding anything new, this may help.
Have you done your methodology and terms of reference?0 -
Re:Unit 10 Project - Executive Summary
Thanks!! I will have a go I just kept it short because I was told not to waffle but I bet everyone waffles!
Yeah I have done my Methodology and Terms of Reference. I have done my Exec Summary now and that has boosted my prject up to 2800 words so now all I need is to go in to detail about it all.

Re:Unit 10 Project - Executive Summary
what does it mean by fraud? what types of fraud? this project is doing my head in!0 -
Re:Unit 10 Project - Executive Summary
Hi there Christheo,
the fraud bit on the project is just how you would describe something within your place of work in which fraudulent activity could take place, for example just one person being responsible for something like the banking with nobody else checkin it, they could easily "cream off" a bit of spending dosh couldn't they? you would then explain how you would prevent this happening, ie get a second person to check the figures before signing off.
Hope this helps, what ideas did you have?

Re:Unit 10 Project - Executive Summary
Hi Chelle thanks for that. Im doing my project on the bookkeeping department in my firm. Cant think of any potential for fraud, any ideas? im thinking of making stuff up.0 -
Re:Unit 10 Project - Executive Summary
Is it a big company you work for? You could always write about areas in which fraud could take place and that is why we use certain systems within the bookkeeping. You dont need to state that your system is currently incorrect and needs changing for this part of the project.
What about the cash book, you need to know what all the outgoings relate to, why we do a bank rec etc
just a thought......0 -
Re:Unit 10 Project - Executive Summary
No its a small company i work for, theres not much to evaluate and its getting on my nerves.0 -
Re:Unit 10 Project - Executive Summary
Couldn't be any smaller than my company, me an hubby, I said I could write the weaknesses of the accounting system in just 2 words....My Hubby
managed to expand that to a few more though!
How far have you got with the project now?0 -
Re:Unit 10 Project - Executive Summary

Re:Unit 10 Project - Executive Summary
