Hi

I'm in a dilema - i quit my job and found another, but then changed my mind and retracted my notice verbally, since then the new company are so willing to take me on are very understanding in their terms. How can i get out of my old job without giving any more notice? What complications are there?

This is my first job and I've had 2 weeks of sleepless nights, (as both places want me to work for them).

This must look very bad

Please help a very confused AAT student

i'd think about why you changed your mind first time round. do you really want to go to the new job? and have you signed a contract for the new job?

Even if you have signed a contract for your new job, it's unlikely to be binding unless it's of the "handcuff" type.

Despite many contracts stating a notice period, if you choose not to fulfill it, there's really very little they can do about it anyway. They can't physically force you into work and it's unlikely they'll take the matter to court. However, they probably won't take you back either should the new job go south and/or give you a reference should you need one in the near future.

Ultimately, only you can decide what to do, but you must decide soon or you could endanger both roles!

    Good luck!
