Hello
I have just picked up my local weekly paper and splattered across the front page is the news that the Inland Revenue along with other Civil Servants are planning strike action on 31 January. They will be having a picket line outside my local Revenue office on Wednesday and if the Returns are not in on Tuesday then the £100 fine will apply, as technically they are not there on Wednesday, so no forms can be handed in or tax enquiries can be made!!!!
This has just made me feel more fed up, roll on February.

i knew there was a reason i file these returns online...0 -
Re:31 January
I know, I normally file online but the subbies accounts I am working on at the moment has to 'handed in' as they need his bank statements to prove that he had tax deducted at source, as one contractor hasn't issued any CIS vouchers. Looks like a busy weekend ahead!!!

Re:31 January
From what I understand, the Revenue will treat all Returns receive on Thursday 1st Feb as being 'late' but are not going to be applying any penalties on that day.0 -
Re:31 January
HMRC notice
Our tax office has told us that if they are in on the Thursday they are deemed to be there on time.0 -
Re:31 January
and you could consider delivering the return to another tax office (that's of course if there's another one near to where you live), or possibly scanning in the bank statments and filing the attachment along with the return online0 -
Re:31 January
Thanks everyone. I am working on the accounts now so hopefully they will be submitted by Tuesday. I don't know if I am just loosing faith but I don't trust the Revenue by the different local offices saying that they will be classed as late on Thursday and other local offices saying they will be on time. Lucky me, my local office has said they will be late and fines will be given!!
Bluewednesday you might see me lurking around your tax office if the worst comes to the worst on Thursday.

Yes, according to HMRC's website they are suggesting that the "late Returns" are in by the 1st February as early as possible.0 -
Re:31 January
1st Feb has always been deemed "late" but no fines charged.
Fingers crossed that the computer doesn't go on strike as well
