Previous study/ assignments as portfolio evidence

Hello there

Not sure if there is a specific portfolio building forum somewhere to ask this, but I couldnt find one so as a newly registered NVQ intermediate student I bring my question here as a first port of call!

Looking through Unit 5, I see a lot of final accounts and reconcilliation work that I have covered in assigments in a Certificate in Accounting I took last year with Open University. Would such assignments be submitable as evidence?

Any thoughts gratefully received :)

Richard

    Hi

In general, it is possible. In fact you may not need to use the assignments themselves providing you can produce evidence of successful completion of the course and have details of it's syllabus. This can then be matched to the NVQ standards and used as evidence. This process is called accreditation of prior learning (APL) but you need to discuss it with your centre.

Also, if you took the OU certificate in accounting you may find that it is more advanced than intermediate and more of an equivalent to the technician stage. The OU cert is actually recognised by CIMA and ACCA for the same exemptions as AAT.
