i need fo quick help! pie charts

Hi just need something made clear to me,
how do i take an amount from a pie chart and turn to a percentage?
ie £1000 per month and £300 spent on mortgage the book says this is 30% but how would i work this out on my own? probably a stupid question! but cant figure it out! lol!
exam results tom! argh! :?

    Hi there,

    To work out the percentage, divide 300 by 1000 and times the answer by 100 = 30%

    or,just say, the results in a test are 72 out of 80, the percentage is 72 divided by 80 x 100 = 90%

    To represent in a pie chart:

    360 degrees / 100 = 3.6 degrees (for each 1%).

    So for 30%, this would be 30 * 3.6 = 108 degrees.

    Another value, of say £500 would be 50% and would need an angle of 50 *3.6 = 180 degrees.
