PTC and BTC

Hi

I am just about to start studying the above topics ready for the June exams. Is it best to study them together, or cover one subject completely and then the other? :?

Any help would be gratefully received.

    I only sat one overall, so I cant comment on a personal level. I do know that some people I worked with did them both, and they said there is a lot of crossover in principles.

    hi anne,

    our tutor told us to do personal tax first then business tax.

    after doing both of them, they are similar in some places but on the whole there are a lot of points to remember. it would be easier when revising to do one at a time.

    We done ours seperately, and I think doing both could get confusing regarding taper relief for personal, business and no taper for ltd companies.

    It was slightly confusing remembering the differences between sole traders and Ltd companies let alone having to distinguish the differences between soletraders and personal aswell.

    If you do do them seperately, I would do the personal first then the business. If you leave some time between the two, we had a whole year, recap on the personal it will help.

    I did PTC in December (& passed :) ) & have been studying BTC since Christmas. It makes alot of sense having studied PTC first & there is overlap so s worth doing both.
