    Sad but true!

I'm bracing myself to do my first on-line return next week.

    Good Luck!!!

From everything I've read it appears Agents won't be able to file online for the first month!!

    Just had my first attempt.

    Not a success.

The data on one of my pre-verified gross subbies became corrupted.

One of my clients has a Construction Company and another company within the same group, as part of the other business they let out properties which is all done through an agent. The agent arranges for any works to be done on the properties for a Management Fee they then deduct the cost of repair work from the rental income before transferring the balance to my client.

According to the person I spoke to on the HMRC helpdesk, this would fall within CIS, so therefore either the letting agent would need to be registered for CIS or they wouldnt be able to arrange for any work to be undertaken without my client getting the subby verified and my client would need to pay the subby direct and deal with the CIS issue meaning they will be doing half the work they are paying the letting agent for!

Just had this emailed to me:

    http://www.accountingweb.co.uk/cgi-bin/item.cgi?id=168126&d=1032&h=1019&f=1026

    It mentions landlords.

    Hi Helen

Thanks for posting the link about CIS and Landlords.

I tried to file a CIS return today. Although I had already activated the Clients online account, I had to go back to the beginning again, which meant I would have to file a manual return for this time, then the client told me they hadn't received a paper return either, so I had to use a blank return, which luckily they did have!!

Has anyone received a CIS312 yet?

    Mine came through this morning:

    Name: not known
    Address: not known

Apparently, I have to keep it on file in case the subcontractor (now known as 'not known'), has a query!
