unit 19 four page short tax return

Hi
I had a question at college today on key dates for a tax return and the short tax return form is mentioned.
I asked my tutor if this form made any difference to the dates at all. To which the reply was along the lines of " no none at all just a bit of extra useless information."
However i've just read the chapter in the book and it states
'this earlier deadline does not apply to individuals issued with a four page short tax return.'
but not what deadlines do apply.
So now i'm yet again rather confused if anyone can shed any light with what is the correct answer it would really help.
For refernece i'm using the BPP books to study from.
