I am looking to buy a new tax book for this year. I usually end up buying a few different ones, including FL Tax Memo and various Guides to Tax. Has anyone found a particularly useful guide?

Re: Tolleys Tax Guide
Dean - is this available from amazon etc or do tolley's supply this from their own website, haven't had time to look to see whether there is such a website.
I too, having finished the tax studying in 06 now need an up-to-date tax reference.0 -

I use Taxbriefs guide as it covers all tax in English - not legal speak!

Hi,
PricewaterhouseCoopers usually do a uk pocket tax book each year. They have a new one coming out in June.0 -

Tolley's isn't in legal speak. It does go that little bit further, though it does show examples at each step.
Read the legislation - that's legal speak!

I agree.
We get sent Tolleys Tax Guide every year from ATT. It's pretty basic. So basic in fact it just gathers dust on the shelf!0 -
Re:FL Memo or other?
Granted the tax guide isn't too bad, I was thinking more of the 17 volumes that we also get sent that are in legal speak! You know the ones I mean where the pages are no thicker than tissue!!
I still find Taxbriefs far more straight forward and use it to get a basic understanding to get something straight. As there is so much interpretation involved, it gives a great starting point and then I move onto the more comprehensive books if more detailed proof is required for the Revenue.
