Hi,

How much is PI Insurance for turnover above £5000? In am getting quotes in the region of £500 per annum, is this about what I can expect to pay?

Also can I apply to become a MIP before I finish Technician Level?

I live in Cumbria, can any MIP's in this area give me any advice re. starting up, advertising etc.?

Thanks.

The AAT offer a PI policy for your level of Turnover which works out at approx £50 per year.

Can you use this if you aren't a MIP ?

I'm currently studying Intermediate & part of Technician but won't be fully qualified until next Summer. I have recently registered as self employed as I am now book-keeping for my tutor's cricket club in addition to my employment as a book-keeper for a local pub. I am now looking to increase my client base on the self-employed side so need to get some PI cover.

If I cannot use the AAT one can anyone suggest eleswhere to look?

    Many thanks
    Emma

    Hi
You cannot become an MIP until you are fully AAT qualified but I'm sure you can apply for the AAT's PII without being a MIP as there are plenty of self employed students.
Have a search on the forums, there is plenty of good advice on starting up and getting clients.

    Good luck

The fact that you are not qualified increases the risk for the insurer, hence why your premiums are high.

Have you tried contacting Trafalgar Risk Management to see if they will provide you with the same AAT policy without actually being a member?
