Hi
I am studying AAT on the NVQ route and sitting unit 8 PEV in June 2007 and unit 9 PCR in Dec 2007.
I am using the Osbourne book which is one book for both units - I've been studying the first half, which is unit 8.
Now - my friend is doing AAT on the Diploma route and is sitting her diploma equivalent exam in June on the same day as me and it will be the same amount of time given to complete.
However - from what I understand, the diploma exam covers the same topics as BOTH units 8 and 9.
I'm thinking....
a) Is it not a little unfair that as an NVQ student I get 6 hours in total to do both these exam units, whereas the Diploma students only get 3?
OR
b) I'm supposed to know the unit 9 subjects for my unit 8 exam and I'd better read the rest of the book quick!
Someone?!

Hiya,
Yes I understand that they are seperate exams on the NVQ route, but my friend is saying that what she is doing in 1 exam on the diploma route is a combination of the units 8 and 9 on NVQ.....0 -

I think your friend is correct. The Diploma pathway combines Unit 8&9 into a unit called MAC (I think that is the correct title).
If you search the AAT website for the support booklet for Unit 8 & 9 you will see that it covers both the exam in the Diploma and NVQ Units 8 & 9.
From memory I think the support booklet states that MAC does not go into quite as much detail as Units 8 & 9.
However, is it not slightly unfair that NVQ students have to revise for and pass 2 exams, whereas Diploma students can pass it in one!0 -
