HMRC Student Loan deductions

My client received a letter from the student loans company regarding one of his employees whose deductions have not been credited since October 06 despite the deduction being made and paid over to HMRC. I phoned HMRC to be told they have a backlog of credits going back to 2004/05 and eventually the payments will be allocated, trying to find out exactly when this might happen is like asking how long is a piece of string
Has anyone else experienced this by those who shall be obeyed and if so how long did it take to get the account credited

Re:HMRC Student Loan deductions
I've not experienced this but I would suggest writing to the student loan company explaining the situation so they are aware that the deductions have, in fact, been made.
I was told last week that HMRC have a huge backlog with their post going back nearly 3 months. I have read in one of the accounting journals that morale at HMRC is so low at the moment that staff are leaving all the time hence the sheer backlogs they are encountering.
Kind regards

Hi Steve
Yes I've spoken and written to the student loans company, and I have suggested they chase HMRC for the credits. I also enclosed copies of the paperwork showing the deductions made and paid each month. The situation is made worse by the fact that HMRC have credited all the other accounts held for all the other employees within the company, except this one, and when I explained this to HMRC they just said the credits are reported individually not by company.
I know morale is low within the revenue at the moment, I only have to speak to my neighbour who is a senior inspector at my local office and some of the things she tells me is unbelievable.
Oh well I suppose there is no point worrying about it and the situation can only get better, can't it?
