Re:What books do we need for intermediate??
hi
ive just done intermediate and we used osbourne books but they were supplied to us by college, look on ebay 2! its suprising how many you can find on there!
I will warn you intermediate can be tricky! i had some time out cos of personal stuff and it took a while to get back to it!
The best advice i could give you is after each session/lesson, write notes and do more exercises from the text books, just so you understand it more! thats def what im gonna be doing next year!
If you need any help, let me know! i will try and help the best i can!

Yep get on ebay someone has the set of 4 for sale for £25 plus postage. I've already got the workbook for unit 5 and the tutorial for unit 6&7 from ebay, cost £13 including postage. Much cheaper than new ones. It's also where I got my books from for foundation. Just search for AAT and it will bring the options up.0 -

I will warn you intermediate can be tricky! i had some time out cos of personal stuff and it took a while to get back to it! Our tutors have told us its easier than then foundation course. Probably is for the tutors.

I did this throughout the foundation course and it helped alot. Unfortunately I had to have alot of time off when doing unit 3 so my plan came unstuck and I struggled a little bit but turned it round in time for the exam

Re:What books do we need for intermediate??
well i never took the foundation course as i did a book keeping course then went straight on to intermediate. i really cant see how its gonna be easier and i think its wrong for your tutor to say that!!
you will be looking at depreciation, accumulated depreciation, net book values, net realisable values, stock, partnership accounts, incomplete records, suspense in further detail, disposals, P&L, Balance sheets, appropriation accounts and that is just for one unit, you then gotta another 2 units which is Reports and Returns and costing. Be prepared to work hard! it will be worth it in the end!
sorry if i rambled! just really dont want people to think its easy!

Re:What books do we need for intermediate??
Hi all. Thank you all for your info on the books. I will look on ebay for them. I bought my Foundation osborne books from college as it worked out a little bit cheaper, but I am sure I can get them from ebay cheaper than from college.
I agree with you Lucy, there is no way that intermediate can be easier than foundation, it will be alot harder with more to learn than foundation. I am looking forward to starting it in September.

Re:What books do we need for intermediate??
Hi all,
I was wondering if anyone knew where I could get an exact summary of what we actually be doing on intermediate. I really need to know for work purposes whats involved next year. Like a detailed syllabus or something. Looked on AAT website but can not see anything!
Thanks

Re:What books do we need for intermediate??
unit 5 is all about depreciation, accrual & prepayments, Bad debts, balance sheets/Profit & loss accounts and also stuff about partnerships etc..
The FRA osbourne book is good, think its about £13 on their website.0 -

Re:What books do we need for intermediate??
Hi there
I have just sat the two exams for intermediate and I found that the only text I needed was the Unit 6 'Course Companion' book published by BPP. These books give you step by step guides on how things are done, usually also why things are done. Personaly, I didn't need the similar books for Unit 5 & 7 but if you think you will need a bit of furtehr reading then they are great (I looked at a friend's copy prior to starting the units).
Good luck with your studies!0 -
