Reclaiming VAT on directors' expenses

Hi

Trying to do some research for work but can't seem to find anything on this topic...

I once read that the VAT on directors expenses cannot be reclaimed if the only people present are directors.

Does anyone know if this is correct??

    Hi
    I think you are right.

    I know if we have had a Staff Meeting/Night Out etc, I can only claim the VAT back for the Staff and not the Directrs.

    Hi,

    Try inland revenue's website they should have more info on there, failing that give them a call, they are quite helpful :)

    How soon do you need to know, in a couple of weeks I am going on a swat course about the rules of VAT, I could find out then if it will help? Let me know!

    I think it depends on the type of expense.

    If it is entertaining or private expenses then no VAT can be claimed.

    It is huge and I haven't had a chance to look at it specifically regarding directors, but im sure the answers in there somewhere!
