I cannot comment on CIMA as I am unfamiliar as to the structure/exemption policy. However if you have AAT you would be entitled to exemption from part 1 papers of ACCA.

I did the route of AAT then ACCA and would recommend that you seriously consider this route. The AAT is a fantastic springboard onto further professional qualifications as it builds your skills and knowledge so that you can deal with the demand at the Chartered level. The AAT also starts with the basics of double entry bookkeeping whereas the Chartered qualifications assume this knowledge in the student.

I know from some trainees I have had dealings with in the past who have gone straight on to ACCA that they have found it a shock to the system due to unexpectations.

    Kind regards
    Steve

If you want to sit any exams for ACCA in December, you need to register with the ACCA by 15th August, they extend the deadline to 30th August if you are waiting for AAT results, but I phoned them up the other day and they said it was worth registering soon, so when you get your AAT results who can forward them straight on to them.

The AAT can also pass on your results to the ACCA on 21 August but you need to have registered with the ACCA for them to do this.

People I have spoken to also say that studying the AAT makes studying for Chartered qualifications easier.

    Hope this helps
