This is purely accademic as I have to wait for the PEV and DFS results in August, but I'm still not sure which way to go. I'm more inclined towards the financial aspect of accounting as opposed to the cost accounting side of things so which option do I choose?

This is only my opinion, but I think CIMA is more geared towards cost accounting (management accounts), so you should go for ACCA.
I prefer costing and budgeting and am hoping to do CIMA next year.

I am in a similar position, awaiting results for PCR, PEV and DFS. I work in a firm of chartered accountants and I am (hopefully!) going on to study ACCA this autumn. CIMA is definetly geared towards management accounting, I would recomend you study ACCA, as this includes both management and financial accounting. If you study CIMA you are probably limiting yourself to management accounting.
