I am thinking of doing the NVQ3 Intermediate course in September. I haven't done the Foundation course. I did RSA I & II Bookkeeping years ago and I have just reviewed my course work on Double entry bookkeeping, producing a trial balance and profit and loss accounts. Is this enough to bypass the Foundation level? Will I struggle on Intermediate if I don't do the Foundation course. Time and cost is the issue.
Thanks
Linda

Re:ADVICE
Hi Linda
It sounds like you will be fine. Foundation mainly just covers double entry so if you are confident with this then I don't see wh you should have any problems. Why not have a flick through some of the foundation and intermediate past paper on the site to give you a rough idea of what kind of knowledge is espected for each level0 -
Re:ADVICE
Hi
Good idea. I will look through past papers and see how I get on.
Thanks0 -
Re:ADVICE
Hi Linda.
There are also detailed guidance notes on each unit in the resource centre. Foundation covers more than just double entry.

Re:ADVICE
RSA level 2 covers a lot more book-keeping thsn the AAT foundation and also the exams are harder than the AAT PLB and even the Intermediate FRA.
What you may find different is the costing side of this which is not covered at RSA level 2.
However, you may have done manufacturing accounts in RSA level 2 which relates to a bit of Costing.
Why not try the multiple choice skill check test. It is a way of determine which level you are at.0 -
Re:ADVICE
Thanks everyone for your advice. I will look at the Foundation course a bit closer and see how much I have covered.

Re:ADVICE
You will be fine going straight into intermediate. I did not have any previous qualifications and had not done any double entry book keeping before, but i had worked in accounts for many years, and i have managed to pass all my stuff so far.
With your RSA you will have covered the financial side, the other side which is costing is not really taught (i have been told anyway) at foundation level, so will be new to everyone starting intermediate anyway.
Hope this helps.
