how much to resit unit 8

i was looking for some advise please, i had a baby last year and failed unit 8 exam. so i would like to go back and resit now, but my tuitor has informed me that this would cost me 450 only to do unit 8 in the class+ reg fees+ exam fees + book, i dont think this is fair :( as i need to get my exam but i dont have 450 inorder to do this, any suggestions would be appreciated. i dont know if i would be able to study at home and just take the exam, i may have to.
please help,the aat have informed me the standards are still the same, so i wont need a new book, i can pay the fees myself, but its 450 just to do unit 8, i think this is a bit steep,do you?

    I have just passed PCR which I studied by distant learning, and all I had to was to pay my exam fee of £38.00 and notify AAT which college I would like take the resit. Im therefore not sure about the £450.00 or did you misunderstand? Please try and have a go at past papers and maybe you would like to buy new books or borrow them.

    Please dont dish out any money when you have only one resit. Do let me know how you get on.

    Some colleges will allow you to turn up on the day of the exam and sit it alongside the students who studied there. This is an area which is difficult to find details about.
    May I suggest that you write to all the colleges that are accessible to you, asking them if they would allow you to take the exam with their students, but state that you will be studying on your own. Occassionally a college will say, yes and not even charge.
    When you have sorted out a venue you can enter the exam directly with AAT and (of course) pay the exam entry fee, and tell them where you will be sitting the exam.

    A little advert for me now. I will have a number of one day PEV revision courses in late October and throughout November and I charge £70 for the day.

    Do you have a class in London?
