Premier Training Marking

Is anyone having problems with Premier lately? They seem to be taking a lot longer to return assignments and are a lot less quick to answer messages as well.

Although I've never done distance learning, I would imagine the quantity of applicants still largely mirrors those starting at standard schools or colleges i.e. most people taking summer off and starting in the autumn.

Also, we're now in the two month build up to the December exams so things are naturally going to be getting busier now.

Havwe you made your feelings known to them yet?

    Regards,

    Robert

I studied with Premier and their responses were varied.

One tutor (now left) was brilliant, she would return work ASAP. Her replacement wasn't quite so good.

I think they hit a patch where tutors have moved on and that might be causing the problem.

Their work-load must increase in the last couple of months before exams - but then, so does a student's.

They charge a fee for providing a service, you should chase them if the delays are increasing.

    Good luck!

    Re:Premier Training Marking

It is taking them about 4-5 weeks (and sometimes longer) to return coursework. Every time I send something in I have to contact them to see if they have actually received it. Then, when I do - politely - contact them they don't seem to like it, which seems a bit unfair. I did have a really good tutor but they left and the person that has replaced him doesn't seem as good. It is really starting to affect my studying as it is slowing down the pace at which I am getting through my course. I am getting to the point where I am thinking of putting in a complaint really as the course cost nearly £600 and I more or less teach myself from the books provided so it is mainly the marking that I am really paying for. I just wanted to see if anyone else was experiencing this and what they thought about it.

    Thanks for your advice.

I had the same concerns about when and if my work had been received so always sent it by Recorded Delivery.

My 2nd tutor had difficulty in recognising my course topics from the AAT syllabus. That didn't impress me!

It's a nightmare isn't it, Helen? I'm really interested to read your experience as I am having difficulty deciding how much of a fuss to kick up. On one hand, the delays are affecting my progress but on the other I don't want to give the impression that I am a stroppy, unreasonable soandso, particularly when Premier will be marking my skills tests. I think it says something when I studied and sat two exams in three months but, so far, I have yet to take a skills test in nine months because I am having to rely on other people to mark assignments etc for me.

Thanks for your help anyway, I often send things by recorded delivery but it doesn't seem to make much difference.

Ring them - but don't lose your cool. Explain your frustrations and see what they say.

They may not appreciate how this causes you a problem. Perhaps other students carry on regardless of hearing?

I was always very keen to get their feedback so I do understand how you feel.

I've not had an problems with Premier recently. My work is usually returned to me within 1 week. I posted a test to them last Monday, and received it back on Saturday. The only exception was my Unit 31 skills test, which I understand has a more rigourous marking system.

My tutor has always responded to emails within 24-48 hours of me sending them.
