Job titles

I've been told to give myself my own job title. This will be a bit of a leap from 'Accounts Assistant'. Basically my old manager has gone and I'm taking on a lot of his responsibilities etc. I'm an AAT full member and was wondering what job titles people might have to help come up with my own.
In the meeting the CFO said that I can't use the word 'Group' for instance in 'Group Accountant' because I'm only involved with the European accounts and not other parts of the world. He said I could call myself 'Management Accountant' or whatever I wanted but I'm pretty sure I can't use that because I've heard of CIMA taking people to court for using that somewhere before.
Anyway, any ideas?

Really! I'd be very surprised if this were true. AFAIK, the term management accountant, just like the term accountant (unlike Chartered, Chartered Certified Accountant) is not protected by law.
What title has your manager? If he's the financial controller/ Finance Manager you could be the Assistant Financial Controller/Assistant Finance Manager or what about good old... Financial Accountant?0 -
Re:Job titles
He's the Group CFO.

Might have been mixing it up with people using CIMA letters without having the qualification.
If Management Accountant is not protected by law, I might just go with that.0 -

Yeah.
Also, must be good experience working closely with the Group CFO - Good for you.

Re:Job titles
I had a job where the official title was Finance Manager, but I didn't like it, and I was allowed to change it to Company Accountant, which I preferred.0 -
Re:Job titles
My title is Company Accountant but I asked to change it to Finance Manager as I thought that this more accurately described my job, my boss didn't go along with it anyway. Was I wrong to ask for a change? Him Big Money Boss works for me as well.0
