HI all im new to this but could really do with any extra info anyone has to share.
Im about to start doing a couple of tax returns for childminders, what is the max you could put as expenses per child per day? as all i have been given is a pile of receipts and no indication as to what is personal useage.
Also is there any other relief/expences i can claim back apart from % of water, gas/elec + council tax ?
thanks

Re:TAX returns for childminders
Hi
I'm a childminder who has retrained as an accounting technician & do quite a few childminders accounts
I still childmind as I feel guilty about leaving the children I've known since they were babies
with regard to your questions
the NCMA (National Childminding Association) put out a publication every year for their members which details what can be claimed for.
bascically if you work full time (40+ hours) you can claim 1/3 of your heat & light
10% of rates, council tax, water rates
you can also deduct 10% of the gross income for wear & tear
the NCMA has a special concession with the HMRC that registered childminders are not required to keep reciepts for items that cost less than £10 (mind you I've never let any of my childminders get away with that
)
you can also deduct anything that is used in the childminding business
try to get your childminders to give you the book from the NCMA it does help alot!
hope this helps
if you still have problems let me know or you could contact the NCMA direct & see if you can get their publication
