I wonder if anyone could help me.
I have only recently set myself up as a self employed book-keeper and payroll provider.
However I am looking to increase my client base and was thinking of doing a mailshot of local businesses.
Has anybody any experience or theories on this idea.

Re:Getting Clients
Hi Sarah
When I set up three years ago, I must have sent out about 300 A4 flyers to clients. Of these, I only had a positive response from 3 or 4, who are now clients. However, from these 3 or 4, I will have had probably another 20+ clients from word of mouth directly from them. I would say a mailshot is an excellent way of direct marketing, but do prepare yourself for not getting a great response initially.

Try posters in your local builders merchant and local business centres.0 -

Never go anywhere without business cards.0 -
Re:Getting Clients
Also send a short letter with a few business cards out to local accountants, preferably smaller ones. Good book-keepers are always hard for accountants to find and recommend to clients.0 -
Re:Getting Clients
I totally agree with this. I received a letter from a book-keeper starting up and was able to pass on 3 clients to her straight away.0
