What effect does the minimum wage have on piecemeal work?

If someone works say, 10 hours to make £30 of product, he only gets paid the equivalent of £3 per hour, which is below the national minum wage? I know there is a gauranteed minimum version of piecemeal work, but if an employer pays someone on the non-gauranteed version, don't they run the risk of falling below the national minimum wage, and therefore, be breaking the law?
Just curious

You probley already looked on here, but i use this a lot at work for payroll and i do find this source helpful for any payroll questions - also the employer helpline are really helpful with any questions.
