My work place has asked me to look into the possibility of setting up an occupational pension scheme, and to be honest I really don't know anything much about it. I wonder if anyone could provide me any advice on how this is set up? and the accounting behind it?

absolutely huge implications for the company, the staff and the HMRC. First stop is ask your auditors for advice then I am afraid you will be in with the sharks as the whole thing would be commission driven. You should not go into this without professional assistance and it will cost.
