I assumed them to be small miscelaneous expenses that didn't fit in any other expense, either way I put them as an Expense in the P & L0

Correct. Consumables are an expense which will be non-usable after a short period of time. For example, drill bits, blades for tools etc
You only normally see consumables in building based jobs etc0 -
