Question for quickbooks experts...

I'm using QBs 2006 Accountant edition and have entered a journal where one of the lines is to the VAT control account. When I run the Cash VAT report this adjustment does not show up, I presume because QBs doesn't know whether it's been paid or not.
Does anyone know how I get it to be included?
