Why did I bother?

Hi there
Brief synopsis:
After a few years of ill health I decided to take up studying - so I went for AAT NVQ route full time in college here in South Wales - I had a great time. But now I can't ge a job - why did I bother? Everyone wants experience - I have some limited experience but not speicialised enough - even though the NVQ is supposed to be a practical qualification.
So then, why did I bother and waste 3 years of my life doing this course? I have applied for loads of jobs - agencies and employers alikke - and the very few who have the good manners to reply say things such as '..we couldn't meet your needs..' - what on earth does that mean? I am so fed up what a waste of my life.

Hi, Sorry to hear about your bad luck. Did no-one mention to you in the whole three years doing AAT that as an NVQ it is essentially a 'work based' qualification? How did you get your membership without relevant experience?0

hi... i just thought that i would let you know that i was in the same position as you ....i was ill ...wanted a change... that was three years ago now hopefully i have passed my AAt tec anyway there are good jobs out there.
i would suggest that you make sure that you cv is spot on ... focus on what work experience skill you have that can apply to the job you are going for(even if there not accountancy based!!)
you have a very valuable qualification ....if an employer can't see potential is some one there isn't much hope for progression in that organization!!
so keep you chin up....keep applying for jobs... you will get there ....it happened for me!!!0 -
PS Paul's comment wasn't very constructive!!!!!0

Where did the lady say she had memebership? :confused1:
I wasn't informed until well into my 2nd year oh by the way you have to get a job in accounts for 2 years at least otherwise you can not become a memeber.
It is bloody hard work trying to get a job of any type at the moment. And with the economic climate as it is at present it is getting even harder and more competitive.
You can only keep chucking in your CV to agencies and jobs, even if it is only vaguely what you want to do. At least you will earn money and it is always easier to find another job when you are already employed.0
