im studying aat intermediate and waiting for my results. once i finished technician level, is it true that i can only be an accounts assistant with this qualification.

You have to remember that AAT technician is an NVQ level 4, its not going to make you into an accountant. Most employers differentiate between those without AAT and those with it when determining pay and career prospects, even if they are grouped together by job title.
