Our audit class has been given the task of auditing the college canteen. We have had our first meeting and now have to type up the planning stage. I have absolutely no idea how to set it out or how it must be worded and just dont know how to get it started. <BR><BR>Can anyone help me please!!!

Hi Dib,<BR><BR>I work as an internal auditor for the NHS, don't know if this is of any use but here goes. We usually start with a brief introduction, when the audit took place, where, why it was performed etc...<BR><BR>Then the all important Scope and Objectives - scope being what your actually auditing, what you're physically looking at, for example 'canteen staffing levels March 2003' or 'canteen procedures for purchasing assets'.<BR>And objectives being what you're hoping to achieve, for example, the objective of the audit was to ensure that a consistent level of staff was maintained at all times.<BR><BR>Then depending on the complexity of the job in hand we give either a brief/ detailed outline of how 'the canteen' operates - example opening times, staff levels and positions etc...basically what they do and why they're there.<BR><BR>Then comes the 'Testing' stage whereby your looking at meeting your objectives whatever they may be. We audit canteens quite frequently - you could look at, cash handling, health and safety, ordering and receipting of goods, staff attendance recording, security, whatever.<BR><BR>There's a lot of audit speak that you just get used to, you'll just pick that up as you go.<BR><BR>So, as for layout I'd go - Intro, Scope, Objectives, (Canteen) Process Outline, Testing and Summary - and don't forget to include tonnes of recommendations and you'll be everyones best mate!!! <BR><BR>If you need anything else just let me know.<BR><BR>Hope this helps.<BR>Pete.0 -
