WRONG STANDARDS REPORTED

Looking for some help and advise. I have finished Technician stage (well just have to do the project) but have a problem with Foundation. I completed this over 3 years ago, when the standards included Recording & Accounting for Cash and Credit Transactions and Recording Payroll Transactions. I have received numerous Statement of Achievements and now received two for Foundation Level - one which lists the old standards and one with the current standards. The one with the current standards says I have achieved all apart from the Preparing Ledger Balances and ITB exam.

This is where the problem is. I never took any of these standards, only the old ones which I completed all, but the College I attended for Foundation Level advised the AAT of the wrong standards (I have evidence of this in my portfolio) but after several phone calls and letters to the College they are not accepting responsibility - blaming it on the tutor leaving, etc. and they have said that it doesn't matter anyway(!!!) as I have completed Intermediate and nearly Technician.

That is not the point, the work I put in to complete Foundation stage needs to be recognised.

Sorry this is a bit long winded but would appreciate any help and advise.

Many thanks.

Karen
WRONG STANDARDS REPORTED

    Hi

Try contacting the AAT and see what they have to say. The AAT approved the college, nots its individual tutors, so basically their just using the tutor leaving as an excuse.

The only problem i can see is that since the AAT have probably set a time limit on completing under the old standards you were taking.

You'll still be able to apply for MAAT, since foundation is no longer a requirement for membership and exepmtions from chartered qualifications are usually based on Inetermediate and Technician or just Technician.

Let me know how you get on.

Neil

    WRONG STANDARDS REPORTED

    Hi,

Personaly I'd send a letter to the AAT, the college should accept responsibility regardless of the fact that the tutor has left. In actual fact I think that it has made the college look worse in that they're not being helpful...!!!

The AAT are supposed to monitor their assesment centres and it is at their discression to withdraw that status, I would assume they have some procedure for investigating complaints against centres so perhaps this route may be helpful, it may not get you the NVQ II qualification but at least it may get them to assume responsibility.

If all that failed then perhaps a fuller description of what happened including the college name on here would serve a purpose because I'm pretty sure I wouldnt want to attend a college that would do that...!!

Ahem... Anyway good luck with sorting it out...!!

(Sorry about the rant its just that I've had dealings with rubbish centres in the past)...

    WRONG STANDARDS REPORTED

Thanks Graeme and Neil. I contacted AAT some time ago about this and will get back in touch with them as I now have the evidence to back this up. I only recently managed to get my portfolio back from the College and it is blatantly obvious that what is in my portfolio does not match with the internal verifiers form. Will keep you posted on the outcome!

Thanks.

Karen

WRONG STANDARDS REPORTED

    Hi Karen
Iâ??ve not been on the forums for a while so Iâ??ve only just read your message, I hope Iâ??ve understood it correctly? I finally finished technician level this year and I also received two statements of achievements. One for the old standard which says at the bottom â??Stage completedâ?? and one for the new standards which has a whole list of â??Noâ??sâ?? apart from one unit (PEV) which I didnâ??t even take, after a few discussions on the forum at the time I realised that this new standard unit must have been identical to the differently named old standard. Hope youâ??re with me so far?
I would think that as long as it says, â??Stage completedâ?? at the bottom of one of the statement of achievements for the foundation level then you have nothing to worry about. Neither your college nor the AAT can take that away from you once youâ??ve passed. I received my certificate and members pack at the end of it all with no problem.
