hi, does anyone have a great understanding of seasonal variations?
the question is:
June July August September
Trend in units 10,000 10,200 10,400 10,800
Seasonal Variations 200 -400 -500 600
is the seasonal variation a cumulative?

Seasonal variations are used alongside the sales trend to try and predict a more accurate forecast. If you were to use sale of ice-cream as an example, the sales would expected to be higher in the summer months, than in winter months. Therefore, had you calculated the trend was an increase of 100 sales per month, your forecasted December sales would be considerably higher than the June or July forecasted sales. This is where your seasonal variations are used, you would increase your summer months trend, and reduce your winter months.0
