After running my own businesses for years, I went to work for my accountant, and it was the fact that I could not get my head around DR's & CR's, even after doing my own bookkeeping for years...that made me want to take AAT, so you could say it was not wanting to let something get the better of me.0 -
I fell into accountancy by accident, I had drifted about doing office work since I left school and I ended up at a place where I had to do everything and I suddenly realised I rather liked the accounting aspects of the job more than the rest.
I don't know who inspires me professionally, my children motivate me to keep going and improve. I also find that now I am doing a job I love I am a much happier person in myself, so I suppose that keeps me motivated too.0 -
a-vic inspires me .....................
that and myself......best inspiration is expentation0 -
I've only been working in (financial) accounts for five years having been made redundant from several manufacturing companies prior to that. My skills before that were varied but included some costing/production planning roles, retail management, working in a builders yard and being a bookmaker!
I got into accounts to learn some kind of lasting trade that would help me through the bad times should I lose my job again since the skills are easily transferrable. I also have a good understanding of various functions within industry which helps with manufacturing accounts though I now work in the service sector.
My primary motivation was to earn more money to provide a better future for my children0 -
My better half pushed me to where I am today - if it weren't for her i'd still be happy bumming alng pushing trolleys at ASDA doing another college course. Ulimately, i wanted to fall into IT, but having worked in a finance related role now for 5 years, I feel finance is my home - infact, I have found use for my IT skills within the finance department and have implemented a real time saving piece of IT literature which has saved a awful lot of time (and money).
So my inspiration? .. has to be my gorgeous finacee0 -
so BUFF ? does your "Georgeous finacee" read the forums then ?

I don't think I've ever been inspired in my life. What does it feel like? :tongue_smilie:
I never wanted to be an accountant, but I hated college and decided I wanted a job so me and my partner could settle down, and this was the only job I could think of with prospects that you could start with only GCSE's. So here I am! I inspired myself!0 -
