I'm still studying but would like to make a start with a basic accounting software package to get some idea of what is involved day to day. For a beginner which would you recommend - prefer low cost too. Thanks, John

Could anyone recommend any personal/business tax software? At work we use digita taxpro and although I get on with it I imagine it's expensive (can't find any flippin prices on the website)0

What do you think of the Express Accounts ?0

I think it's really good considering it's free!0

You can get a 7-day trial of IRIS bookkeeping software, which is a popular practice software provider (I'm not connected to them, by the way).0

Do you know any payroll software providers (cheap or free!!)
I tried Able as I was told they were good but they never bothered getting back to me...0 -
i have downloaded express accounts for the mac. but all of it is in dollars - how do i change it? i run the scouts accounts and it makes sense for me to do it in £'s rather than $'s.
thanks

We use the payroll site at work http://www.thepayrollsite.co.uk - costs £5.75 a month for upto 5 employees and then £1 per extra employee per month.
It allows electronic submission of all the PAYE/NIC amounts to HMRC.
The only comment I would make against it is to double check changes to tax codes are still there the 2nd month/payroll date after changing:mad2: I hasten to add i think this may be user error0 -
Thanks Jon
I'll try it
